IFA Presence

Potensic returned to IFA in Berlin with the Atom 3, not to unveil a fresh model but to keep building momentum for a drone that launched earlier in the summer. The company is aiming squarely at travelers, outdoor enthusiasts, and first-time pilots who want more than a smartphone camera can offer.

Camera and Video

Inside the Atom 3 sits a 1/1.3-inch image sensor paired with a dual-focal 48mm lens. That design lets operators switch between wide landscape shots and tighter close-ups without changing hardware. It records 4K footage at 60fps with HDR support, which helps preserve fine detail in high-contrast scenes like sunset skies or shaded forests.

Flying and Tracking

Weighing less than 249 grams, the Atom 3 falls into the same lightweight class as popular DJI Mini models. It promises up to 40 minutes of flight time and a 16-kilometer video transmission range. The upgraded AI Follow 2.0 can automatically track a moving person, making it useful for solo cyclists, runners, or hikers who want dynamic action shots without needing a second operator.

Market Ambitions

Potensic is presenting the drone under the theme “See Beyond,” encouraging users to explore new perspectives and tell more creative stories. By combining capable hardware with the convenience of a sub-250-gram airframe, the Atom 3 positions itself as a versatile, lower-cost alternative to DJI’s offerings while still appealing to drone newcomers and experienced hobbyists alike.
