Cloud seeding the perfect wedding
What started off as a fringe “conspiracy theory” have now evolved and made a life of its own. From headlines in newspapers about “cloud seeding” going back decades to companies specializing in creating your perfect wedding weather!
The Conspiracies
For years people have been talking about chemtrails, Nasa, heavy metals and geoengineering in the skies above our heads. One might be inclined to just disregard everything that has to do with the technologies just for this very reason, as many people have done. It is not a theory based purely on fiction, however. It is actually quite a common practice.
Cloud Seeding
In an article from BBS dating back to 2016, Hans Ahlness from Weather Modification Inc (WMI) explains that cloud seeding is the practice of inserting certain metals into storm cells to increase the precipitation. This is done by plane, where an experienced pilot flies straight into the storm within 160 meters of the base, where he releases the particles into the cloud’s updraft.
The practice is used in many situations across many countries of the world. It’s a great tool for re-filling reservoirs, watersheds, and for agriculture and is a mere phone call away. WMI gets a lot of requests from all over the world to come and “fix” their clouds, especially from places that normally doesn’t get a lot rain.
Practice going mainstream
It’s not just the farms and water reservoirs that need fixing, however. One of the most recurrent negative feedback the travel company, Oliver’s Travel get from their customers has to do with bad weather. Instead of investing in rain protections, such as roof and tents for their high-end customers, they decided to do something about the main issue. They contacted the Texas based meteorological company Just Clouds and tasked them with keeping the rain away from the luxury villas and chateaus in places like France and the Caribbean.
For a mere addition of £100,000 to the wedding bill the happy couple may now relieve themselves of the anxiety over bad weather.
UK wedding planners critical
Wedding planner Sarah Haywood, however, thinks the practice is over-the-top with a slightly too big price tag. There are not many people who have the funds to spend on removing the weather on their wedding day and, besides, if you plan to have your wedding in the U.K., bad weather is in your DNA, she claims.
Future of bad weather
Is bad weather going to be a thing of the past if we continue to develop these types of technologies? Perhaps, but as it stands currently, quite a bit of expertise goes into every step of cloud seeding.
First of all, you have to have a storm brewing. Then, an experienced pilot willing to fly straight into the eye of the storm with tin cans filled with metals attached to the wings of the plane, and pray he didn’t miscalculate the cloud’s characteristics.
AI-controlled drones
This might, however be something that will be easier to do in the future with AI and AI-controlled drones that can operate completely on their own, allowing for easier and safer access to the storms. It might even be that if the project goes well, we can repopulate the Sahara soon?
