Future of creative work in the fields of marketing…

The marketing field is one of those fields most prone to be taken over by AI, and in short AGI. This is what Sam Altman predicts in his new book “Our AI Journey”, in which he predicts we have about five years until only a small sliver of jobs in the field of marketing is left for humans.

We’ve been telling ourselves that technology will only change the way we work, not whether or not we actually will be able to have jobs. AI has really taken the world by storm, especially generative AI, which I’m increasingly fond of myself to be able to do certain things.

For myself, a year ago, when writing articles and putting out social media posts, I had to take to the stock photo websites, or create something myself with my limited digital graphics skills. Nowadays, when needing an image to an article I’ve written, I head to Bing or Midjourney and simply tell them to create a suitable image. It makes my other content stand out better and is, frankly a great tool to work with when you don’t have the funds to buy from photographers and the like.

This does create a vacuum, however. Me myself wasn’t making anyone else richer before gen-AI, but others where. Last year, Nike (if I remember correctly) put out a new marketing campaign, 100% produced by gen-AI. Not one single cosmetic agent, stylist, photographer, director, or model was hired, paid or consulted during this campaign. Just a guy sitting by his Macbook writing prompts an afternoon.

This is normally a very expensive thing for a company to produce, but is normally worth it due to all the money it brings back in.

Where will all the money go?
